Hi, I’m Sandra

Welcome to my page. I am a counsellor and young person’s therapist covering the Tiverton and Culm Valley area. I have a wide range of experience with counselling adults, young people and children. I am a registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. As a counsellor, my specialisms are depression and anxiety, and working with those who have experienced trauma and domestic abuse.

Do you need a safe space to explore overwhelming feelings, anxieties, or negative thoughts?

My counselling service offers an opportunity to pause and just be, in this busy world. Throughout our lives, we can have times of struggles with our emotional health. Counselling can help to provide a protected time to discover those repeated patterns in our lives, which have a negative impact on our relationships.

Within a confidential, safe and non-judgmental counselling environment, we will work together to explore these feelings, build your self-esteem and confidence in a protected space. You will be listened to with respect, warmth and empathy, giving you opportunity to explore with me, your thoughts and feelings.

About Me

I am a humanistic counsellor and use a variety of approaches and theories to cater for your needs, this may include exploring past experiences and how these or current events maybe affecting you. As a counsellor, I have worked with clients who have experienced domestic abuse or trauma. I currently work for a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in counselling adult survivors or victims of sexual violence, trauma or child sexual abuse. Alongside this work I run a busy private practice.

I am a Registered General Nurse – Adults and Children’s Nurse, with over 30 years of health care experience and 18 years working with education and health, as a School Nurse. I have a wide range of experience in working with children and young people, particularly those who are experiencing overwhelming anxieties, and depression. I worked within schools and at home with young people who are exploring their gender identity or exploring whether they are neuro-divergent (autism).

As part of my continuing professional development, I regularly attend workshops on counselling and mental health updates. These courses have included safeguarding with children and young people, as well as one on adults.

My clients say that I am non-judgmental supportive counsellor, who is also holistic and gives space for them to explore with compassion and empowerment.

"Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures."
